An L-Sealer Machine is a shrink-packaging system designed to enclose products in heat-shrinkable plastic film. It gets its name from its L-shaped sealing bar, which cuts and seals two perpendicular edges of center-folded film simultaneously in a single downward motion.
How It Works
-
Film Insertion: The product is placed between two layers of a center-folded shrink film (usually POF, PVC, or PE).
-
L-Sealing & Cutting: The heated L-shaped sealing frame comes down, sealing the open front and side edges of the film around the product while trimming off excess plastic.
-
Heat Shrinking: The enclosed product moves into a heat shrink tunnel (or a single-chamber hood), where warm air tightly conforms the film to the product's shape.
Main Types
-
Manual L-Sealer: The operator lowers the seal frame manually. Ideal for small businesses or low-volume runs (100–300 packs/hour).
-
Semi-Automatic L-Sealer: Features a pneumatic sealing bar or magnet hold-down with a powered discharge conveyor that feeds the package into a shrink tunnel automatically (400–1,200 packs/hour).
-
Automatic L-Sealer: Uses sensors and motorized infeed conveyors to continuously wrap and seal products with zero operator intervention (up to 3,000+ packs/hour).
Key Advantages
-
Clear Visibility & Aesthetics: Provides a crystal-clear, tamper-evident finish that boosts shelf appeal.
-
Protection: Shields products against dust, moisture, and scratch damage during transit.
-
Versatility: Accommodates individual items or multi-packs (e.g., bundling boxes or jars together).
-
Cost-Efficient: Uses minimal plastic film compared to rigid plastic or heavy cardboard boxes.
Common Applications
-
Printed Goods: Books, calendars, magazines, and notebooks.
-
Food & Beverage: Boxed chocolates, frozen pizza, tray-bound canned goods, and bakery items.
-
Consumer Electronics & Hardware: Software boxes, small gadgets, and packaged tools.
-
